thanks everyone for congrats on job and for well wishes after kick. I am ok luckily wound is under hair line.

Can i have a quick opinion. You know the very sad picture of the young child refugee on the beach that was on the fro.t of many papers. a few weeks sgo. Not putting to much detsil as do not want to upset anyone. Do you think that Is Suitable to have on a huge screen in a school assembly for 11 year olds. ds3 has Complained To the head teacher as he said it was inapropriete for the younger pupils.
I wondered What others thought thanks.

I agree with your DS3 - children need to face reality and understand whats happening in the world but I would certainly be put out if teachers were doing this where my grandchildren are concerned at that age. One of my grandchildren became a staunch vegetarian at the age of 10 - purely because her teacher chose to show her class a detailed video of life in a slaughterhouse and I wasn't happy about that either.

If Mil needs 4 care visits a day to return home it is up to social services to arrange - they will generally do this fairly quickly to avoid paying a 'delayed discharge charge' which NHS charge councils for.

Unless OH's folks have enough money to 'self fund' residential care it will be 'better value' ie cheaper for the local authority to fund 4 visits a day rather than pay for res care.
If MIL has capacity she can rescind POA and also if it is not in place and shared the decision can't be up to brother.

If OH mum/dad don't have the mental capacity to make the decisions themselves, then best course may be to seek a Best Interest Assessment, via social services.

MIL is a little bit forgetful and a bit confused but she definitley still has mental capacity and DIL is fine. I will ask Social Services about a Best Interest Assesment. I know they dont pay for the care visits because they have less than £46000 joint savings so presume Local Authority would have to fund care home. They have both signed the power of attorneys but they have not been enacted so are not usable at present anyway.

Thanks for the reply. That was the basis of his complaint. he is 15 and is on the school council he has asked for the image not to be used again as some of the younget pupils were upset. And showing displaced refugees would have been more suitable for the younget pupils.
