EE roaming add-ons

Options
Hi There

I have just purchased a roaming add on to call from anywhere outside of Europe for £6 for 30 minutes and 100 texts for £6. The EE agent insisted this could be used to call other mobiles or anywhere in the world. When I got the confirmation text message it said from anywhere in the world to the UK. So does this mean I wouldn't be able to call other mobiles that are abroad?

Thanks,

It means you can use it to call a UK mobile number. It doesn't matter whether that mobile is in the UK or abroad, as the other party pays the roaming charge, not you.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Hi what do you mean by the 'other party pays the roaming charge'?

The person you are calling...that's always the case with mobiles, regardless of tariff. If you call a UK mobile that is roaming abroad, you pay the same rate as if they were in the UK. Whether you have purchased a roaming add on or not: the roaming add on is for your phone, not theirs.

  • Aaah ok. If I was calling another mobile abroad (so both in Usa for example) that also had this add-on, then their shouldn't be any charge for either phone? The roaming minutes will be deducted from both phones?

I haven't checked EE add-on but i think it is only for outgoing calls so for incoming calls you will have to pay.
If however it does cover you for both outgoing and incoming than it should be fine and both of you will benefit from that add-on.

These bundles work from anywhere in the world to anywhere else - landline or mobile.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
