  • Just wanted to let people know that I didn't win the HQ Hair thing, but want to thank you if you voted for me, unfortunately no bannana - better luck on something else I am sure :)

Can I have some of Lizzie's luck please? - 20-150 comps a day since start of may and not a single bean (boo hoo lol).
Do not feed the trolls please.

it stands to reason really that you need to be logged in because if you use the completed link without being logged in, how would pigsback know it was you that entered!
That is the logical conclusion, and is what I, along with others like catflap, believe to be the case.

But with PB these days, you can never be sure!!

Are you suggesting I'm dim? You may be right!

    Congratulations!

I wonder if you could tell us whether you entered the answers manually or used the "completed grid" link. If you used the link, were you logged in to PB before clicking it?

    Thank you!

Several people have reported winning the crossword, but none of them has ever answered these questions in full, though one did say that s/he had used the link.

thx, i entered all the answers manually

But what if you are logged in automatically? I never sign out ...

Mind you this is a bit of an academic question as I do the crossword manually. One day I hope to be as fast as Jules ...

It isn't really possible to achieve the speed of Jules' previous solutions, as the completed link is probably useless on its own, and therefore the solution has to appear.

The time that it takes to upload the solution to a storage site and then download again to the post means that it will always take longer.

I posted one solution with blank and completed links in seven minutes last week, I think, but it could be done just a little more quickly.

The key to speed is remembering all the answers from when the clues have appeared previously. Also, there are one or two clues they use which have little relation to the answer, or which don't lead towards the correct part of speech.

Post 1 does now contain odd bits which are out of date, for instance the 10-point click-throughs.

It was originally drawn up about two years ago (at a guess) by Cuppatea, and has undergone two revisions by Board Guides, I think.

Similarly, Post 2 has not been revised since it was submitted, and the poster has not been on MSE at all since 16 May.

It does now need a little attention to update it.
