EE upgrade
Hello all, this is my first post, have been 'lurking' a while but my experience with EE last night called me to action.
I am due an upgrade on the 24th of sept, however my phone is on its last legs so I decided to call them last night to see what upgrade deals I could get. They could only offer me tariffs of £34.99 pm on fairly old phones. Now I'm not sure if this is because I was trying to upgrade early or that my current tariff is £33.99 pm. I am trying to bring my costs down to a max of £25.
Just wondering if anyone has any good advice for what I should do next?

How do you expect to get a new phone and pay less?
Even if your minimum term is over, so called 'upgrade deals' are pretty bad nowadays as the best deals are usually for new customers.
"Early upgrade" deals are pure !!!! as you are tied and can't walk away without paying the early termination fee.
Also, for all uprgrades you are likely to find a better deal via a third party like CPW, mobiles.co.uk etc.
Next time take a better care of your phone or, if it's faulty, get it repaired under the warranty or SoGA instead of relying on 'upgrading' it early. When you finish serving the minimum term shop around.0 -
EE dont do upgrade 'deals'. If you upgrade you will pay significantly more than you would if you go elsewhere and get an older/worse phone and be stuck with them for another 2 years0

Im not trying to get the best/ latest phone. My main concern was to haggle the tariff down as I know many people who have done this and also got a replacement phone as part of the deal! Also im sure im not the only person to have dropped a phone in their life.
Basically I should wait until the 24 months are up then ditch?0 -
Basically, yes. Huggling the tariff down during the minimum term is a dream.
Don't forget to give a notice 30 days before the minimum term ends.
Also, a contract with a phone isn't the only option. Nothing stops you from buying a phone outright and using it on the current contract, then on a new sim-only contract or PAYG.0 -
If you are happy enough on EE,, you can go SIM only for £12.99 per month once your contract is up
12 Month contract
2000 minutes
Unlimited Texts
2 GB of Data
You can use the £20 per month that you save on buying another phone.
If you feel the need to tie yourself into a two year contract, an example of an upgrade/new contract with a Motorola Moto G(3rd Gen) Smartphone here:

I'm in a similar position to you in that I dropped my phone a couple of months ago which cracked the screen. It's usable but not very pretty.
I can upgrade from 25th September. When I asked about an early upgrade at the start of August the deals were not that good along with an early upgrade fee. When the 25th comes I will tell them I am thinking of leaving and haggle for a better deal. I've been doing this for years and always get a better deal than I would have done by upgrading online or going through CWH, etc.
Been with EE/T-Mobile/One-2-One for years.0 -
Thanks for the advice everybody.
I think I will wait to ditch and if they offer me a retention deal then great.
Yeah mine is up on the 24th Mav so hopefully they'll be parting with some good deals that week!0
