Should my wife's phone be repaired by car phone warehouse ?

My wife has a Sony Xperia z3 compact, had it a few months into a 24 month contract. Paying £26 pm.

It's developed a couple of issues. It doesnt charge properly and very recently the camera just shows a black screen.

She took it to a store and they said it sounds like a software problem. But they then said it wouldn't be covered by warranty as the screen has a crack on it.

Now. I know full well that hardware and software are independent. Unless you spill water a hardware issue won't affect the software. So in my mind a cracked screen shouldn't mean any software errors aren't covered by warranty.

From what I understand, they won't touch it if it has a damaged screen because doing any work on it will likely result in the crack increasing. Just because they think it's a software problem, it doesn't mean it 100% is. They may still have to take the phone apart.

Fix the screen and then get the warranty sorted as long as they have not flagged the device as warranty void.
