BT - over charged me!!

18 months ago i posted about BT not connecting me for 12 weeks after moving in to a new build property. They lied to me several occasions but thankfully gave me a bit of compensation for the ordeal.
HOWEVER!!! I just checked my bill and since June 15 they've decided to charge me for products that I was told were free... i.e BT Sport with broadband.
Also, where do companies come from thinking they can get away with £17 phone lines and £17 broadband.
It turns out, BT are trying to cancel out the compensation I had by overcharging me now!!
I hate to say it but BT are crooks! I dont know how MSE can support them when you're meant to stand for Money Saving Expert.... Saving... not Scamming!

BT Sport is only free while you are in a minimum term for broadband/phone line. However, you may be able to get a refund if you no longer want BT Sport by reading this article:

Companies 'get away with £17 phone lines and £17 broadband' because some people are lazy and happy paying the standard rate year on year. If people will pay it, why would they reduce it? You need to haggle with them or move providers. Standard practice not just in telecoms,. but energy, motor insurance, home insurance etc.
Not sure how it make them crooks though? They exist to make money, like every other business around. For example, if I didn't negotiate on my Sky package I would be paying £75 a month. It's the standard rate. Does that make them crooks? No.0 -
Thanks for the reply Mije.
I also negotitated with Sky and pay less than £30 for a £90 odd package.
I have called BT, had a refund and removed BT Sport to have the free version (BT Sport Light)
However, if I negotiate my BT package down as a whole, they will tie me into other lengthy contracts and I cannot do this as Im due to move house in 2 months so dont want to be charged to do so. If im not contracted to them I can choose to leave them if they dont give me a better price.
I personally think BT's prices are an outrage! Someone should be standing up to these companies to reduce charges for things like line rental... I mean, what is that even paying for, I dont use the phone, I dont even want it, I just want the broadband but I already pay for that!

It pays for the provision and maintenance of the line that provides your broadband, how else do you think the signal gets to the property?
Your ISP does not maintain the line, your line rental provider does.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
