Expresso, that seems basic enough for this old faht. So, simply by deleting IE7, IE6 will automatically re-appear?

Gee whiz, so here goes. If you don't hear from me again etcetc.....

Well it worked. Lord knows why I should be surprised. At least I'm back to familiar surroundings. But now we have the issue of the:-

Your security seetings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls on your computsr, clic here for options

we must now assume I suppose, that I've clicked on something I shouldn't have, because I was able to view normally untill I
followed the route of Tools >Int.Opt. > Security > Custom level then on to the Active X clickings.

It did occur to me, this default thing, would clicking on that make any difference?. I'm loathed to do anything without a word of advice as I don't want to dig a deeper hole for myself.

Why not load Firefox as well, you can use either without any problems, you can import your favourites as well.

    Hi,

I've got my security and privacy settings at medium high, and it seems to be fine, get a few tracking cookies which I delete with Ad-Aware and Spybot, get an odd prompt for ActiveX, and if I'm sure about it, allow it.

Inactive, why have you thanked me? I should be thanking everyone else. I've noted that I can import Firefox and have seen the links to download it. Given that I do, as you would expect, I have a few questions,

    1) when it has downloaded, and IE6 still on my machine, how do I differentiate which one takes precedence?

    2) how do I transfer/duplicate Favs?

Oh, in the short time i've been back with IE6, I've noticed the print font are less clear/strong. How does Forefox compare?

Making typing errors as we're expecting compnay any minute, please watch this thread as I'm sure I'm going to need further help, thanks.

  • Hi,

if I can but in, as Inactive seems to be off line,

Q1 - you will get the option to make Firefox your default, if you don't, then IE6 will be default, you will have two icons, so can click on which ever, or even have both open at same time.

Q2 - Firefox may import your favs, if not then when in Firefox > file > import option.

Q3 - if you are using XP have a look here, you may have to click to allow add-on.

    Hope some of this helps.

The webcams are back, the print is clearer and the beep is there, but what the heck, unless it causes problems I can live with it.

Go back to IE6, it is much better than IE7, or better still, use Firefox.;)

IE6 better than IE7...it may take some getting used to but IE7 is a superior browser. It's not perfect, but there are many aspects they've improved upon.

Firefox is ok (what I use), but for the best out-of-the-box experience, Opera is worth a look. Lightest, fastest (of IE and FF) and very secure. It's only downside is that some sites don't properly support it.
