Are you happy with your MacBook Air? If so, you could ask them to replace under the SoGA.

They don't have to though. You can request it by all means, but Very are within their rights to issue a partial refund instead, or even repair it.

    I have a macbook . . .
basically the hard drive has died . . .
It will cost too much to repair

What I don't understand, is why it's too expensive to replace a hard drive

As it's a MacBook Air the hard drive will be the SSD kind. As all of the components are soldered to the Logic Board I'm guessing Very feel it's more trouble than it's worth.

Even an SSD isn't as expensive now as it used to be - it's probably that they've asked how much Apple would charge to fix it, Apple have given them the price & they've baulked. That happens when you deal with Apple products which is why for the vast majority of people they're simply too expensive to be viable & are more for the "fashion statement" of buying a Mac.

I too would bite the hand off them because only 20% reduction is outstanding, I'd expect between 20-30% depreciation per year even on a Mac.

After getting written report, Very have offered me a refund minus a 20% usage fee.

80% refund plus what you spent getting the report?
