Returning Macbook to Very

I have a macbook air which has developed a fault after 18 months, basically the hard drive has died.
After getting written report, Very have offered me a refund minus a 20% usage fee.
Is this acceptable or do I push for a replacement or full refund. It will cost too much to repair
Thanks

To receive 80% of the cost back after 18 months of use is an extremely good offer. You can ask for a replacement but it is up to the seller to choose the remedy and it is perfectly acceptable that they make a deduction for the use you have had if they offer a refund.0

Sounds very reasonable to me. You've had 18 months use, why would you expect a brand new product?0

Sounds like a very fair offer! Take it before they withdraw it!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
They have offered store credit only, is that fair?0

I don't think store credit is fair.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Store credit or not that's still a very good offer, IMO way more than most retailers would offer.
Bite their hand off I say before they retract it.0 -
Under the Sale of Goods Act they cannot force you to accept a store credit refund.
However, if you insist on a 'real money' refund you may well be offered somewhat less.
As others have said, accept their offer before they change their mind.0 -
Are you happy with your MacBook Air? If so, you could ask them to replace under the SoGA.
This time last year my (four year old) iMac developed an issue with the LCD. Got an report and was quoted over £400 to get it repaired.
I argued it wasn't fit for purpose and as it cost a lot of money that it should last longer than four years.
Apple replaced the LCD free of charge. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Don't think. Accept it.
Very good offer.0
