Not sure how much I will be around in the next few days as my phone (main method of posting) is slowly turning itself into an expensive brick. I stupidly didn't get insurance and it's 2 months out of warranty. So now I need to find somewhere to repair it and if it works out too expensive to be worth it, I will have to buy a new one. Not even sure if my sim will work on my old phone as I changed networks. May be without a phone for days or weeks as this piece of poo will only wake from sleep mode if I take the battery out. :(

    That's a shame, Code.

    code,

    try

If your phone doesn't wake from sleep it's because of the proximity sensor bugging out. Find the "prevent accidental wakeup" in display settings and disable that. I haven't had any problems with unlocking in my pocket and the problem disappeared.

    What phone is it?

Tried everything ww, even factory reset it which made zero difference. This is my 3rd of this type of smartphone (different models) and all three have broken whereas Mr codigopombo's still works.

Everything seems to be going wrong atm. Currently looking at buying a new one if anyone has any suggestions?

In other news today I can hardly move. All of the cleaning and taking over household things is really hurting my spine and arthritic bits. I am going to see how I feel until Monday but I think I might have to request extra carers until WaSp is better. I will see how I feel. WaSp is very against the idea because it makes him feel useless and he insists he can do things, I am telling him he can't and reminding him that the only reason they let him come home was because he said he was a carer and I couldn't be alone. If he opens the vein again they will very likely admit him for 10 days next time.

WaS, not sure if this is something you've already sorted, but you need to sort out a plan B with your cuddly bulldozer in case WaSP is out of action/has to be elsewhere in the future for any reason.
You coped magnificently this time, but it was for a short period of time. If they'd kept him in for 10 days then, you might have ended up with care that doesn't suit you so well because it was all that was available at short notice. It's far easier for services to swing into effective action if they've planned what they're working to. If you haven't discussed it yet, please do, to keep yourself safe.
    I'll shut up now. :)

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • If it isn't what you've already got then I'd consider an iPhone code. Whilst D has went between android and windows phones and then back again, I've remained loyal to Apple, as in my eyes, they're the best.

If D hadn't of bought me the newest model (at the time) 2 years ago, I'd still probably be on my first one. I like them because I know where everything is at, I like things organised and it to be simplistic in it's ease of use. Other phones probably are too, but I know where I'm at with the iPhone and I just like it better than other makes.

Nope. No to Apple. Their products may be good, but I object to their pricing structure based on what's cool rather than what you're getting and I prefer Android because it's less locked down. Plus, everyone I know with an iPhone has had to replace their screen a lot and I'm clumsy!

Also, now I've made the decision to get a new phone, my phone is waking up from sleep again. It still has issues with the lock screen so now I'm not sure what to do. I've reverted to indecisive jelly again.

  • I agree about their pricing structure :( Personally I couldn't care less about looking cool, like I say, I'd still probably have the very first one if I wasn't bought one. Once cases are on, I find it hard to tell the difference personally, but then again, I'm not really clued up on these things! D's got a mate who "just has" to have the latest model, and I'm like 'why, if yours is still working?' But he just has to be down with the cool kids! :rotfl:

I must have been extremely lucky (touch wood!) with the screen then, as I'm always dropping mine!

Your phones like "hey, I'm still working, I'm hanging on in here, please don't replace me!" :p

Oh man, don't! I get ridiculously attached to stuff. A few years ago there was an advert for one of those used phone buying services and it used a phone that was designed like a little guy and it showed the person taking it out of the drawer and it snuggled into her hand then she just chucked it in an envelope and I felt so sorry for it that I used to tear up a bit.

    I am not normal!:rotfl:

  • I've got a Galaxy 6 edge at the moment and it's lovely, but not very moneysaving! I'm not sure I've actually used it for a telephone call yet as I don't like talking on the phone so make few and ignore most that I receive, it's purpose in my life is as a portable TCP/IP connection.

I had an original iphone 3g, which was a lovely thing, but the whole apple ecosystem and its dependence on itunes to connect it to the computer infuriated me. When I started looking at developing for it my frustration went through the roof (ignoring the abomination that is xcode, you have to pay apple ~£50/year to put an application that you write onto your own phone, and if you stop paying your application disappears from your phone!), and consequently I won't have anything to do with Jobs' evil empire any more.

    And breathe!
