Recieving the same prize twice

I won a snuggle sac around 2 weeks ago, but this afternoon, another one arrived. I have emailed the company to let them know.

Have you ever been sent the same prize twice, and what did you do?

They'll probably just tell you to keep it.

If they want it returned then it's their responsibility to arrange for it to be picked up.
There's a bit of law regarding "unsolicited goods", where someone sends you something without you asking for it, legally it's yours to keep (it's different if you order a jar of coffee and they send you 20 jars by mistake).

I'm not sure how that relates to competition prizes though as entering the competition in the first place would possibly not make it "unsolicited".

I once won a vibrator and received two identical vibrators in the post from the same company about 2 weeks apart. I kept the duplicate for a month, and when I never heard from the company, I took one of them into my local Anne Summers shop and told them it was an unwanted present. As they could see the box was sealed/unopened, they exchanged it for gift vouchers so I treated myself to some new underwear! Smiles all round! bouncing-for-joy-smiley-emoticon.gif
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

well they have replied asking me if I could post it back, so I have asked about postage as I am not in a position to pay for it
  • They have replied saying they would refund the postage if I provide proof of postage. Am i wrong to be annoyed by that?
  • they should organise a courier to collect from you

No you are not, it's for them to arrange collection - if you are happy to post it to them then they should certainly provide stamps or a pre-paid label to do it.
  • I asked for a pre paid label and they have replied saying they will arrange a courier

Strictly speaking you should give them three months to arrange collection at a time convenient to yourself after which it becomes legally yours to dispose of as you wish. Of course convenient for you might not be convenient for them which is 'unfortunate.'

Argos delivered a vacuum cleaner to me once completely out of the blue when they failed to collect it after 3 months despite a request to do so I notified them it was now legally mine and sold it via the local free paper.

As for comps I once won a (£100) ironing board and a laundry basket, I received two ironing boards and the basket never arrived. After a long sojourn under the bed in case they realised their error the spare was sold.

Only other thing I have ever received two of was some Brut toiletries which arrived twice one Xmas.
  • I have asked again for a label to be sent out, as I do not currently have access to a printer, which they need to arrange a courier
