how many sickies are you allowed?

Hi! How many sickdays can you have per year without making your employer fire you? Is there an allowed limit or an average?

There is no allowance for sick days like there are holidays. Employers attitudes to sickness will vary. Some employers will be very lenient, others will put you onto a disciplinary after more than two or three incidents of sickness.

Why do you ask? Are you being disciplined over sickness?
  • Some have a Bradford system. So if you have 5 seperate days off its worse than 1 week in one go. I wouldn't rely on sick days though as you don't get paid for the first 3 days either
