Crashy don't you think that after 709 pages on HPC thread about the London prime market crashing when it's clearly not, that tells you enough is enough. That you and the other goonies delusions are complete and utterly false. One day you will have to face up to reality and bite the bullet and buy. Otherwise you'll be a rent forever paying off someone else's mortgage for them. It's all very generous of you but you need to wake up to the fact that charity begins at home, so it's high time you knuckled down and looked after your family's shelter needs.0

There's a real irony in the accusation of group think coming from an HPC regular. The forum here may be quite small in number, but it's certainly diverse in thought in a way that "toe the line or be banned" HPC most certainly is not. I have to admire your sense of humour though.
Oh,, and for the record, I think that the BTL changes are a very good thing, which of course actually illustrates my point about diverse thought over here rather well.
Well I've had a number of posts on MSE mysteriously disappear that were in no way offensive, abusive or sweary... they were simply anti HPI or anti BTL.
I also occasionally go on HPC forums and I've made my opinion quite clear that a massive crash will never happen and anyone thinking it will is deluded... I've never been shouted down, had posts removed or been banned.
Make of that what you will.0 -

And what impact do you think these changes will have on the cost of renting?0 -

Sorry, maybe that is your experience but it's not the experience of many. I have posted freely on this board, definitely not an HPI bull and haven't had anything deleted (that I saw). Maybe it's because I try to reason about it rather than just post by faith. When I tried to reason about it on HPC, I was banned. Many others have had the same experience.
So now, with regards housing, HPC only allows party line propaganda. I mean, TheCountOfNowhere is so deluded he is quite literally claiming prices are crashing around him, while land registry stats come out month after month showing the opposite. If you question this mentality, even while saying you actually are in favour of a downward correction in prices, but would prefer to deal in reality, you are called a troll and most likely banned. Just look how many times the troll word is trotted out and tell me that isn't true.
Btw, the economics discussions over at HPC are often very interesting and I think there are some very smart and informed people there (as well as some nuts).0 -

Well you've been wrong on pretty much everything else you've posted since you joined this site...Crashy_Time wrote: »the UK housing market is destined for it`s inevitable correction
When is this "inevitable correction" going to happen?
You have been predicting it for 16 months now and your HPC collaborators for over a decade... how much longer before you wake up and smell the coffee?Every generation blames the one before...

On HPC who did you post as and do you have a link to your anti HPC posts?0 -
Rents will continue to go up, same as they always have with a shortage of supply. Landlords will continue to believe they can charge what they like, rather than what the markets will bear.
Fully agree.
Discouraging BTL investment will just reduce rental supply, pushing rental inflation up as landlords recoup a market wide increase in cost.
Net result is that the taxman and landlords profit, while Generation Rent is squeezed even harder.0
