Tuesday 8 September - What small DFW things will you do today?

Posts: 2,683 Forumite

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really important!:money:

Morning all!
Had to be in work for 6.30 so thought I'd start us off.
As I had to be in early today and it was nice weather yesterday my boss said I could leave at 1.30! So I went and did the food shop straight away then had a lovely walk in the sunshine with the pooch before baking cookies ready for when OH walked through the door! Felt like a proper little housewife! :rotfl:
So today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Get dressed in the dark so as to not wake OH and hope I have my dress on the right way! :rotfl:
* Take lunch to work (made last night)
* Take gym clothes to work
* Go for a run along the beach as need to take boss' dogs out
* Check FPL
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Go for a "cycle" using boss' exercise bike
* Dinner from stores
* Do more crochet
* Enjoy relaxing this evening as all exercise will be done for the day!
Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Morning twiggy :wave: thanks for starting the thread!
katy_ann so sorry to hear about your carHave you had a mechanic look at it though? I have a mobile mechanic, recommended by a colleague a few years ago. He charges me about 1/2 the price a garage would and is trustworthy. Dawn's right it is worth just checking...
Bob thanks for your encouragement re the pres. Your words kept swirling around my head when I had doubts about whether I was on the right track "done is better than perfect"! Weirdly when I have been spontaneously given a presentation title at an interview I have found it much easier - no time to doubt yourself you just need to get on! And even weirder than to think a presentation up out of thin air (on the 2 occasions I've had this at interviews) by the time I got to the interview I was focused and no time to be nervous. Was offered both positions....
Ok things for today:
* check banking & keep on top of finances
* email ms company over this blinking assignment I did last week. Honestly thinking I'm gonna sign up with a couple more companies this week and sack this one off. They are a pain!
* finalise presentation powerpoint & email to oh to print off 4 copies
* run through presentation with oh tonight
* finish prep for interview tonight & if I get a moment today (ha ha forced dgd to have a nap yesterday :rotfl: took her to the park and spent an hour running after her playing catch - cue lots of hysterical giggling - then gave her a dinner at lunch and sat her down with a bottle & tv. She didn't dose off! So then said let's have some milk. She's so switched on & knew exactly what I was getting at and kept saying "no thanks". Took her upstairs to lay in my bed and she was asleep by the times she had finished the milk :T)
* onepoll - so close to payout now - £1.45. How you doing JOJO?
* this afternoon going to have lunch with my ds for his birthday?
* call first utility. Going to use the resolver tool to complain about their shocking service!
Ok that's all I'll have time for today. Still haven't sorted out the washing machine
Have a great day everyone xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all
Thanks for the start Twiggy.
List for today:
*Housework
*Collect funeral flowers ready for tomorrow.
*Pick up a jar of coffee and some bread flour (and nothing else!) while I am out
*Sort out what I am going to wear tomorrow
*Make up spare bed and text brother to see if he will be arriving before or after he has eaten (he is staying overnight with us and travelling to our Uncle's funeral tomorrow)
Speak to neighbour about plans for tomorrow as she is kindly keeping an eye on pupThe funeral is 100 miles away, and we can't take him.
*Wax the chest I painted yesterday. Probably won't be able to take it to my sales unit today as it is too heavy for me to manage on my own, and OH is out today - but I can get it ready. It looks really nice
*Make a loaf in the bread maker
*Pick any raspberries and blueberries that baby GD might have left yesterday :rotfl:
*HM meals from stores - meal planning has gone a bit awry with all that is going on with family, but whatever it is, it will have tomatoes in it :rotfl:
*Research what to do with chard, as I have grown some for the first time. It looks very pretty if nothing else!
*Read some more of library book
Sounds like a pretty busy day :eek:
More coffee needed, then I must get on!
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Morning All,
Another splendiferous day here in the S.W.
Up and dressed with the kids this morning as got to get the Carpet cleaner back to the shop early.
Not sure what else to do today apart from the usual:
Washing / line dry
Make tea - probably do jacket spuds tonight
Oh I need to source some free blackberries to make a crumble as my apples are sat waiting patiently to be used. Used to spend hours collecting blackberries as a kid and carting them all home for mum to make Bramble jam.
Can't think of anything else at the moment.
Have a good day all x0 -
