Do you mean it can hide malware when ticked or unticked?
Yes, when ticked, email messages are split into separate parts and the email headers say 'message/partial'.
http://lists.roaringpenguin.com/pipermail/mimedefang/2004-November/025258.html explains why and how these emails can hide viruses. From the error message you posted earlier it looks like your ISP's email server has been configured to reject these partial messages, thus closing this particular security hole.
Ill do a scan, do you know anything about avg anti-spy as a bug that I thought I'd deleted several weeks ago keeps showing in the results as 'ignore once' - I don't know if that means the bug is still there.
Ignore once means "leave the object on the disk without taking any action this time, and upon the next scan, detect it again". So yes, it's still there. Right-click it and choose Delete or Quarantine if you want to get rid of it. What is the threat called?

The threat is drivecleaner - it told me originally that I'd been visiting naughty sites - if only!! Browntoa helped me delete it but it still seems to be hanging around. I've rightclicked and deleted, so maybe that's the end of it! Cheers for that, I've posted a few times about it but the threads slipped off quickly as they seem to on here.

I run avg anti-virus and spy, spybot and I've just downloaded super antispy as well. I'm not sure if any of these are firewalls, though, people on here say you should run one.

I know I'm being really thick, but should I tick that box now I've sent the message?

Thanks for your help, I appreciate the easy explanations!!

    No, leave it unticked.
