Three one plan tethering

I am fast approaching the end of my much loved one plan contract with three and need to start considering my alternatives.

I have been using the unlimited data to the max and tethering all my gadgets to my phone over the past few years but I know this plan is no longer on offer and that there is a good chance I will be requested to change my plan at some point. So what do I do? Move to a broadband deal and a cheaper mobile contract? or are there any contracts which offer good tethering? I currently pay £32 per month, use about 18-20gb p/m and I currently have no landline.

I'm unsure how my data usage breaks down between my phone and tethering, is there a way to find out?

If you do nothing, it will continue at the same cost and bundle as before. You only reach the end of your agreed minimum term, it isn't a maximum!

Really? I thought I'd heard three were /changing people's contracts soon after the minimum term had ended...

You are wrong, there is plenty of info about the demise of the one plan.

You heard correctly, there are still unlimited plans for on device data use, but none offering unlimited tethering. It isn't supposed to be a home broadband substitute, you would be better off getting broadband and a cheaper mobile contract as you suggested in your earlier post.

My One Plan sim only minimum term ended in January 2014 and I still continue to use the One Plan. My understanding is One Plan contracts are being phased out and existing customers are being notified. However it's not clear what process Three is using to select customers.

I suspect some people jumped before being pushed when this initially surfaced but they may have been able to continue using their One Plan for much longer.

Three are reviewing their customer's data usage who are still on the old One Plan and the abusers are being given the option of a new unlimited data contract or go elsewhere. Those that use the data fairly are being left alone and will continue on the same terms.

No, unfortunately you are wrong, the current policy is for all one plan customers to be moved to new plans by early 2016. The other older plans are also under consideration for compulsory migration.

Three's owner has made a number of policy decisions that Three have to follow, mainly to increase profitability on the network.

I don't know how customers are being selected but my understanding is Three are intending to migrate all The One Plan customers to new plans at some point. There have been numerous rumours about an end data to complete this but it may be more fluid that some would have us believe.

I suspect when isn't based on alphabet or data usage. ;)

The end of March 2016 date is from the Three Exec Office and separately from a Three insider. The date could well slip (if Three's past record is anything to go by) but it's currently what is being worked to.

You are correct though, there is no fixed policy by usage or name being used, it really seems to be luck of the draw, some customers who never tether have been contacted and others who admit to tethering >100GB a month have been left alone (so far).

    Abusers ?
You mean the people that used what the service contract they signed told them they could use.

They sold it as all you can eat unlimited tethering, how is it abuse if people used what they were sold.
I do Contracts, all day every day.
