vw 2008 auto panel van please dont buy!!!

I feel I have a duty to warn anyone tempted, please do not buy the 2008 vw panel van/ minibus adverised in autotrader in rainham, it has serious faults with the electrics which are intermittent & vehicle is so problematic it may not even be fixable. The seller is aware.I know because we made the unfortunate purchase & after fighting tooth & claw got some sort of refund & two days later it is back up for sale. We were told lies on the mileage, it supposedly having new engine, service history, etc. He even arranged repairs & left us with the £900 bill. He made up stories about us being traders, so we would be entitled to no refund. It is reported to trading standards but I feel this might be to slow to prevent this being sold....so please if you have a friend, neighbour or anyone wanting a mini bus please steer clear unless you want to lose alot of money, there are alot of others out there.

i just hope any potential buyers look here first before buying. but the chances are slim to none.

put the reg up if you can. At least then if the potential buyer hits google up with the reg they might find this post.

Nobody will look here first as the description is so vague.

No mention of the actual model never mind the colour or the actual spec or even the reg number..

I know people in an attempt to warn off others have put an ad on Gumtree similar to the sellers, but with the warning attached too. I suppose the average potential buyer will look in their own area at all the selling sites and it will have a decent chance of being spotted.

Problem with putting reg numbers on forums is the same as when people with dash cams do the same on youtube -- the car may well be eventually fixed by somebody else or in the dash cam sold on to a new more careful owner, jsut for their car to forever be tarnished

A panel van with an automatic gear box would ring alarm bells with me

True, but putting the reg number down and a list of the faults would give a potential buyer an idea of whether its been fixed or not.

A vague description was not really worth starting a thread on.

I could have made many threads earlier this year, like the red Mondeo in The stafford area that had more oil in the water, compared to the amount on the dipstick.
How about the Silver one in Coventry that had knackered suspension.

How about the Blue Rover 75 diesel that had the performance of a wet slug and very rusty rear suspension arms.

I could go on and on, but nobody will have a clue which car i was talking about and wont take a blind bit of notice to my post.

  • What is the auto trader link?

  • Sorry it was vague, not sure how much info I could give without getting into trouble!!! I've never posted on any of these things but felt I had to try to do something & there are hardly any 2008 automatic minibuses in Rainham so thought it would be easy to find ad in auto trader without much more info.
Never use a small trader again, but he seemed very nice, honest....I now know I am bad judge of character : / Def should have AA checked. Oh well you live & learn.......
Ads now seem gone so very much hoping trading standards finally done something cause dont want anyone else put through what we went through.
