No i don't receive tax credits and never have personally. I have no problem with people in genuine need receiving benefits but believe there are many people in this country who could work but choose not to.0

Who decides what genuine need is?0 -
IMO people in genuine need are pensioners struggling to get by after working hard all their lives, ex-military who as a result of risking their lives for our country now struggle with mental illness and often end up living on the streets, people with disabilities who do not receive the services they need etc. These people, along with refugees fleeing for their lives often with their children, are those I would happy for the tax money I pay to be be spent on. Who am I not happy to pay for - watch an episode of Jeremy Kyle !0

I can remember when Amin expelled the Asians from Uganda - the UK took over 27,000 refugees in then.

At least some were first housed at Greenham Common air base and other similar places round the country....0 -
the chancellor made it clear today that the foreign aid budget would be used to pay councils for housing these poor people, lets face it if we did as much as germany is doing we would have 650,000 refugees coming to the uk,personally i think we could easily help 100,000
I believe he also said for 1 yearI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

We spend £10 billion on treating diabetes, a large amount of which is caused by people over-eating and under-exercising; but god forbid we spend a fraction of a percent of that much on translating stuff for people who have fled a warzone in fear for their lives.

I'm not against helping the poor people fleeing Syria but see little benefit in moving them all the way to the UK, particularly if tent city is the way forward with winter coming. Aid should be provided at the borders of Syria.
That's great. Can I have my money back from paying for free bus passes for the elderly, pensioner bonds, free prescriptions for wealthy pensioners, public pensions for people with sufficient private pensions, nuclear weapons, excessive incarceration caused by ridiculous sentencing, child benefit for the first two children etc? I'll happily give it to the refugees instead.
Maybe if short sighted twits didn't fight against spending money on people abroad in the first place then we wouldn't have so many of them trying to move here in the first placeHaving a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...0 -

Personally, I think spreading them all over the country is the worst possible outcome. For everyone involved.
Why?
I'd say spreading them out is preferable. Concentrating them in a few selected areas and 'refugee only' classrooms would only encourage ghettoization.
Nothing wrong with spreading the burden over all local authorities nationwide either.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

given the state of the world, the wars, famines, inequality, homophobia, racial suppression, FGM, religious / ethnic cleansing etc. it would be reasonable to suppose that there are at least 1,000 million people who would benefit from fleeing their own country and coming to live here.
what criteria would a reasonable and non prejudiced person use for determining who and how many should come here ?0
