  • The UK can take a vast number in - it is down to the young uns to help with this. Maybe tax young uns more and let that money go to councils to then pay private landlords to house people on?

    Cameron is talking about 15,000.

That could be achieved with a modest sized refugee camp somewhere.

It would even generate jobs to build; maintain; and police the camp; whilst applications are processed. This can take months so the camp needs to be suitable.

Take the money from the foreign aid budget. This is what foreign aid is for.

Put the camp in Scotland if it pleases Nicola Sturgeon. I'm sure she would appreciate the PR she can milk from the news.

I understand Nicola has offered to provide some accommodation within her own home
apparently she has demanded the right to vet them to ensure they dislike the English

trying to give a reasonable answer.

If there was a plan to help millions immigrate to a host nation they can be housed in homes at a high density. There is no need at least in the short or medium term to house refugees at 2 people per home (German average).

Upto 12 people per 3 bedroom apartment in Germany would be ok solution for some time. With the average such apartment costing 400 Euros a month thats less than 40 euro a head so a million such people would cost less than half a billion euros a year which for a government as rich as Germany is nowt

Also given the opportunity to work I suspect most would find jobs within 3 months at which point they can integrate into the host society towards the lower end. In the case of germany that would mean a household renting a 3 bed apartment for <400 euro a month. Also with more than 2 million empty apartments in germany thats a lot of spare room
  • the chancellor made it clear today that the foreign aid budget would be used to pay councils for housing these poor people, lets face it if we did as much as germany is doing we would have 650,000 refugees coming to the uk,personally i think we could easily help 100,000

we host 630,000 immigrant each year plus all the uncounted

with our large surplus of housing I guess an extra 100,000 more would be no problem
  • Why don't they go to the houses of anyone who wants them?

The left and bleeding hearts always want stuff to be done but at others expense or inconvenience

    Socialists should voluntarily overpay tax.

Pro immigration people should take in immigrants.

I'm not against helping the poor people fleeing Syria but see little benefit in moving them all the way to the UK, particularly if tent city is the way forward with winter coming. Aid should be provided at the borders of Syria.
Left is never right but I always am.

Here's an idea - how about bedroom tax relief for anyone on benefits who takes in a migrant?

  • Send them to Scotland. Nicola and Alex have said they'll be welcomed here.
