Free EE sim replacements

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a replacement ee sim that doesn't cost £10.20. I've looked online and apparantly there is that charge. People tell me and threads online suggest if you take it into the actual shop they will replace for free. Others have also said this is not the case.

Does anyone know for sure? I've tried looking in terms and conditions to see what that says but couldn't find it. Would it be in there? one person said they have recently changed TC's so that they don't charge in store now but they used to. Whereas others have said its the other way round. Everything I read is contradictory? It's to change a micro sim for a nano sim.

I'm pretty sure that your micro sim will have a thin push out to remove the excess plastic to downsize it to a nano. Most sims that have been issued (for quite some time now) are variable, that you just pop the actual sim down to the required size. If it's not that sim type, why not just cut it down yourself? There are loads of templates online to match the size against. All you need is a steady hand and a sharp pair of scissors.
I've cut loads of sims down to size myself...so if I can do it, I assure you..anyone can!

there are also these things, but would NOT recommend from going micro to nano using one. (only starting from mini)
