Thanks for the input. What I meant earlier was to put covers for cloth seats, perhaps something easy to clean to negate the leather part.

However in terms of comfort, I presume it is more comfy than cloth seats?

However on balance I think I will go for cloth seats. an extra 1000 is just too much, plus it will take more than 10 weeks to deliver compared to just 3 weeks for without seats.

I would rather spend that 1000 on a nice leather sofa at home to which I will spend more bum time on.

Leather all the way! Its not cold in winter and its not hot in summer- its skin, like yours designed by nature for all seasons! Plus you will have air con and heated seats and they will look nicer and last a lot longer.

Leather is usually the only choice, but in this car, as the only person likely to buy it from you in the future will be a fully paid up tree-hugger, go for cloth. Think of the cows.

Not really bothered about the resale value, PLan to keep the car until it dies

  • Had leather in my old car, unless you're driving around wearing only a thong I don't understand the too cold or too hot comments. Driving around in winter was fine as I would wear a coat and my skin wasn't touching the leather.

Have leather and alacantra in my new car, I have put covers over them though.

No idea what they fit in the Auris, but check what they mean by "leather"

The nearest the "leather" in my Nissan has been to a cow is when I put a Macky-Ds bag on the seat.

If it is "leather" as in "faux leather" or what we used to call vinyl leathercloth, DON'T get it. It cracks where it flexes, which is right at the edge where you slide over it getting in & out.

This vinyl is passed off as "leather" with the half-leather interiors. If you want cow skin, you have to get "hide", which is usually a "full -leather" option pack.

If it says leather and sold in the UK, it has to be a leather hide or split. Anything else is illegal.

    I thought that too.... :D

Probably described as the correct thing in 6pt type on the back of the manufacturers brochure, commonly referred to as "half leather" by dealers.

No doubt half-leather doesn't refer to how much of the seat is covered (as you think) but describes vinyl. ;)

Check some adverts: Nissan Note Tekna, always described as half leather. I can assure you it isn't cow hide. :D

Not sure how similar the non leather interiors are in the Auris when compared to the Prius.

But I know a few people that regret buying a Prius with cloth as it seems to shows mark pretty badly, these are cars used for work though.

If I could afford the extra cost I would have leather, not least because it will show little wear if looked after and is easy to clean.

It will also make you car easier to sell when the time comes.

I would probably go for a darker colour.

I have a tan leather in my car and it does need cleaning every few months as dye from clothing shows, not an issue with black leather.

Lots of Mercedes don't have leather but are sold as having leather.

    Artico Leather is actually vinyl.

I bought a half leather interior for the wife's Clio and that was artificial leather, or vinyl.
