I was thinking of this post on the way into work, when I had to drive at 20 miles an hour in a 30 zone behind a learner driver. In clear bold print on the back of the car it said 'Thank you for your patience' and to be honest, it did the job far better than any of those 'If you can read this sign you are too close' sorts of stickers you can get'.
The problem with humour is that it only works best with people whom you know and whose reactions you can judge. If you miss the mark with strangers then it can cause offence or indifference. And the important thing for you, I think, is to get people to do what you need them to do and park appropriately, rather than to laugh either with you or at you.
I would go for one of the formal signs explaining the need for wheelchair access and maybe also a bumper sticker that says 'Thank you very much for your courtesy' . That way you give a clear message and also set people a high expectation of how they should behave (and suggest implicitly that not to comply would be discourteous and shameful).0 -
Hi Serendipity,
Try this link.
Go to Car window stickers, and you should find exactly what you want. I've bought some that I can stick on other people's cars when they park in disabled spaces without a Blue Badge. They say "Gee thanks, you've had my parking space, do you want my disability too?"
I've used them a couple of times so far!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Oh the Sh*t on bonnet suggestion came from something that actually happened. A group of friends were parking cars, one was getting a bit close, one lad said 'Park so close I can't get in and I'll sh*t on your bonnet' the other guy said 'You wouldn't dare' well that was the stupidest thing to say to that nutter, watching someone use bleach to clean their bonnet is funny :rotfl:
Suppose if you wish to go for the nice approach 'Thanks for leaving enough space for wheelchair access' would do. Funny ones to me stand out and make me think more the next time.
I want one for my Jeep with 'If you can read this flip me over' upside downhandy for if I take it off roading again :rotfl: few times it was close to being upside down the last time
One day I might be more organised...........

You are lucky, you could choose your name Serendipity, it is my name, but always shorten it to Seren.
Seren (wish I had chosen a false name when registering) I didn't think about it......Science is the antidote to the poison of enthusiasm and superstition.......0 -

Translated to Welsh means - star.If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb
