NHS lease car

Wife has just started an NHS role which involves a lot of driving around. A lot of the people she will be working with have got lease cars from the NHS.
One person said they pay just £100 a month which sounds good.
What are the advantages and disadvantages? I assume this is a discounted rate so there is a BIK for tax?
Also, I heard you get less per mile for a lease car than you would for private car? Is this true?

Also need to look into the effect on your wife's pension. Are payments taken from gross pay therefore reducing her pensionable salary?0

Not sure how it works to be honest....but good point.
Still £100 a month for car inc insurance, tax, servicing etc is well worth it.0 -

How is that reducing her pension, if her contributions into the pension scheme remain the same?0 -

If it's Golf then I would say that is actually amazing for £100 including everything.
I might switch to NHS then.
Where can I find more info on this.
We were never told.0 -

Not sure. Previously wife worked in a hospital based job so not sure if its only open to those who have jobs that involve travelling around or all nhs staff.
Its just that with her new job theres tons of travelling around patients houses.0 -

Or maybe your doctor mate is on a different scheme.
Woman sitting next to my wife pays £120 a month inclusive on a 7500 mile subsidised personal lease via salary sacrifice for a Mini One D.0
