Applied for a Halifax Clarity Card a couple of days after getting a Halifax Reward Current account. I wasn't accepted online and had to appeal. I got a £500 credit limit with 21.9% APR. Just seen my credit account opened online! :D Hope Halifax do credit limit increases automatically! Would definitely prefer a higher limit for travel but I can't complain at the moment!

I think i should do one of these appeal things, lots of people seem to be having success with it, i seem to be getting declined for everything at the moment, haha.

    Hi all

I am aiming to get a Halifax Clarity Credit Card but do not have a Halifax current account as of yet. I was wondering what are people's experience of applying for the Halifax Clarity without or with the Halifax current account? Would having a current account improve your chances of getting it through the online banking system?

I have no Halifax account. Applied for a Clarity for travel purposes. Asked for £1500, being reserved, and got £3500. I'm happy with that.

Nice! You must have a very straightforward record. I think the online application doesn't have a great application success rate due to the complexities of the credit records and stringent online application criteria. Its good to hear that it works for some people tho!

No account. I watched my eligibility rise from 20% to 90% as i paid down my debts. applied, approved, asked for 1.5k was given 3k which has just been increased after 6 months to 4k.

So for me at least the eligibility checker seemed to be accurate.

I must add that i am quite pleased that Halifax, pretty much alone from what i read on these boards seems to give a real nod to responsible lending practices.

I applied for the Clarity credit card online on 17 September, just over a year after opening the reward current account. Funded that with £1k for the last 3 months, instead of the minimum £750. Immediate acceptance with credit limit of £4k, rather than the £3k I'd requested:)

I'll only use the card for foreign travel and for the £5 a month reward, obviously :p

I'm running 20+ sole current accounts and 2 joint, so I wouldn't say I have 'a very straightforward record' ;)
