Unexpected tax rebate in wages?
Comments

Ok this is weird.
New job:
Payslip 1 tax to date £88 (not right obviously)
Payslip 2 tax to date £1412.40
Payslip 3 tax to date £nil
Payslip 1 - looks like tax at 20% no allowances
Payslip 2 - P45 processed - includes previous job? But no adjustments made??
Payslip 3 - adjustments made??0 -

Suggests the possibility that either payslip 2 had someone else's figures entered which were corrected in payslip 3 or your figures were entered for payslip 2 and someone else's for payslip 3 or something completely different happened.
Only with full figures can anyone know for sure.0 -

Payslip 1 Possible but no way of telling without the taxable gross figure.
Payslips 2 and 3 The OP says " I've got paid £280 more than the previous 2 weeks and the difference is in the tax field, that being a positive rather than a deduction. " This suggests a refund of at least in the region of £280 but the tax to date is shown as
"Payslip 2 tax to date £1412.40
Payslip 3 tax to date £nil"
This would, if the figures are correct, require a tax rebate of £1412.40.0 -
You think? Is it possible that it's somehow not taking into consideration job 1? So thinks I've paid 1400 for 3 weeks work?0

This is one of the last payslips think I had 2 more after but don't have them on me. Ignore the take home had a deduction.
It won't let me paste links due to being new so figures :
Total pay to date £9476
Tax paid £1205
Tax code was 1054L0 -

As advised earlier these are the details required odd bits from some payslips do not give the full picture.
"If you want this checking you have to give full details.
Pay tax and tax code details from P45 or last patslip in old job and same for each payslip in new job plus from payslips taxable pay to date and tax paid to date."
Week number from P45 and payslips would also help.0 -
I will sort this out later.
Just got my next one.
Zero tax paid on this week and zero tax paid to date....0 -
This latest pay slip should have a gross pay to date figure.
Is it right?? That is does it reflect your total earnings this tax year??
If it does then no tax will be correct
If it doesn't something has gone amiss
Remember your tax code on its own does not determine how much tax you pay. It's a combination of your tax code and your pay
I get the impression you haven't really understood this0 -
My gross pay to date seems to be the total sum of my new jobs payslips, so not including my old job.0
-
One last go before I give up.
To understand what is happening you have to give all the details asked for, odd bits and pieces are of no use.
From the P45
Items 6 7 and 8
From all payslips
Taxable gross Tax paid Tax code/basis Taxable gross to date Tax paid to date0
