Best Way to make insurance cheap

  • quit sales (impulsive type people) and become a priest.

When I was programming quote engines many years ago, insurance for priests was actually loaded by a degree due to the fact they tend to do a lot of driving around visiting parishioners and tending to their flocks 24/7.

My insurance is cheap, but having driven for 7 years, with some NCD, no endorsements or driving convictions. I tried to get insurance on a VAG 1.9TDI and I was being quoted £1500. Ridiculous kind of numbers.

Eventually, I'll just have to pay, but my word.

drive a car that is low-powered, cheap to repair, not attractive to thieves, not favoured by boy-racers

But to counter that my insurance went down when I changed from a 7 year old Diesel Passat to a brand new (at the time) 14 reg Focus ST 250 bhp.
When I changed again this year to the new 180 BHP Diesel ST it remained the same. It took them over an hour to even find the car in their system so I think they may have guessed at this LOL.
Changing again to the new Diesel ST at the end of October so who knows what they will charge.

Ironically, I also looked at the insurance cost on a 2.8 V6 Golf 4Motion, basically the original pre-production R32 and the insurance costs exactly the same as a 1.9TDI.

    Madness.
