I hate my new sofa

Options
I had my brand new white leather sofa delivered yesterday after 12 week waiting...and I hate them! I don't know what I was thinking.

i purchased them from Furniture Village and looking at their FAQ I cant return them as they were made to order. Thats fair enough as its my fault I don't want them once they were delivered. Does anyone know if there is a good place to sell almost new sofas? I spent £2000 but I'm not sure I can even get £500 if I sell, unless anyone has any tips?

Thanks for your help.

what is wrong with it? Leather is practical and easy to clean compared with fabric.

Absolutely adore furniture villiage - post a picture, advertise in local newspaper, tell people in your social circle / media etc.
If its from furniture villiage its quality, it will sell.
Worst case. Scenario - I'll come and get it!

Oh no!! You poor thing. After renting for a million years and getting fed up with blue, cream and Ikea, I'm saving up to get my new place looking just how I want it and one of my secret worries is that when I finally get it I'm going to think/realise how awful it looks and be really upset and kicking myself about the money.

So... nice material, well-made, just the right size/shape for the room it's in? Is it only the colour, or did you order them too large?

It seems a shame to e.g. cover them with throws and cushions, but you also need to bear in mind what else you'll be able to buy for your £500 (or whatever) and whether that would be any better.

Although I'm sure that rule is there for a reason, I wonder whether they might buy it back from you for a lot less than you paid but more than you'll get in the local paper? Especially if you didn't want cash but credit against the cost of a replacement. They might be able to sell it in their showroom for a reasonable amount that would make it worth their while.

You haven't actually said why you hate them.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Thanks for the replies, i don't like the fact they are bright white or the style really. I went in there looking for a completely different sofa but it wasn't very comfortable so I ruled it out and I then appeared to pick something very random! Its mostly the colour.

I have emailed Furniture Village to see if they have any partial refund policy or something, if not I don't think I can afford another new sofa so will have to live with them and find a lot of cushions lol. An expensive mistake.
  • Are you sure its not just because they are new and different? We got new sofas back in February - we'd had our previous ones for 8 years and the new ones are a very different style and a different colour. Although I absolutely loved our sofas when we ordered them and guests also think they look fab and totally suit the room, when they first arrived I suddenly wasn't sure whether we'd made the right decision. Its taken me quite a few months to really get used to the way they look.

I'd really recommend to give it some time before making a major decision like selling them at such a huge loss.
  • Vampgirl perhaps you are right. Furniture Village said I will have to speak to the store manager but its unlikely they will do anything after delivery. So I will see if I get used to them!

If its the colour have it dyed. At least white is a good base colour for something else.

If it's only the colour you don't like then you can get it dyed. A lot of the car programmes show specialists who can colour and refurbish car upholstery. Give it a quick Google and see what comes up.
