unlocking a samsung galaxy

Hi,

My friend has a samsung galaxy ( 5 she thinks) that was contracted to verizon ( US company) it is now out of contract and she is hoping to unlock it so that she can use it now that she is back living in the UK ... we have tried a shop but have been informed they cant unlock it ... can anyone give me advice on how to get this phone unlocked ?

You could give them ago if you have an ebay account.

Thanks ... that seems to be in Florida though ... I see it says international shipping but I would be concerned the phone disappeared tbh

You don't send them the phone, you supply the information that they need and they'll generate a code together with instructions on how to unlock (with said code).

Verizon is not a UK S5 .

This is the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Verizon Wireless):

It appears (assuming your friend has met all of the repayments and their account was in good standing upon termination of the Airtime Agreement) that the device should already be unlocked.

Have they tried another SIM in the phone?

I should hasten to add your friend won't be able to use 4G LTE over here in the UK as the LTE bands supported by the S5 on Verizon's network aren't the bands our phone companies use.

Thanks everyone will try and work through it with her... yes I am sure she should meet the criteria so hopefully that will make it easier to sort
