my cat Barney loves 'Dreamies' but the only problem is - the microwave rice packet sounds identical to the dreamies packet! (btw the micro rice is only used when I don't know what time OH will be in for supper), but when I have had to do 'Dinged Rice' Barney comes running thinking he is getting extra Dreamies! so of course I have to give him some.

Our cat loves Dreamies too! When my children set off in the morning for the bus I have to stand outside with the packet in my hand just in case he decides that it would be nice to go for a walk with him. Even though you can see he's dying to go for a walk the bag of bribes works every time to keep him from following them :rotfl:
  • Well our cat certainly isn't frugal.......he eats like royalty and would rather go hungry than eat supermarket own brands.....I might just try him on Aldis though seeing as it's been recommended on here....maybe I will have to disguise the packaging. :rotfl:

    We'll ive been Very frugal.

I have been a bit more restrained with the food budget and have made some great savings this month.

With some of the money saved I have bought myself two really fab winter coats from the chazza. One a three quarter length cream pure mohair and the other a full length camel cashmere job. £10 each. Absolute bargains and they will keep me nice and cosy., whilst looking smart and (hopefully) elegant.

They will probably last for years so the cost per wear will be minuscule. They are the sort of classics that are timeless and always look right for any occasion.

    Perfick:rotfl:

:T Nice one, lessonlearned. A quality coat for about the price of a cheap top, one would be good going but two is excellent. And I am sure you will look warm and elegant.

I love strolling around in my Dannim@c classic trenchcoat (50p from chazzer). Bring on the cooler weather.

lessonlearned How brilliant :j What a bargain! Hope you love wearing them.
  • Ooooh, now I have coat envy! Good finds, lessonlearned.

Not sure whether I've been frugal or not today. The food shopping for the week (at the local market) came in under budget but I bought two more chickens with the extra! In my defence, we were down to 4 big girls and 1 bantam now, and they're all about to go into moult & shut up shop eggwise for the winter, or a few weeks at least. The one surviving chick we raised this year eventually turned out to be a late-developing cockerel, so went back to the breeders today, and one of his sisters & a cousin came back with us instead. Three more bantam pullets will join us next week. Normally we let the bantams raise day-old auto-sexing chicks (i.e. guaranteed females) which works out very inexpensive at 85p-£1 per chick, but for some reason we could only get hold of 4 pure-breed chicks this year, and three of them dropped dead on us within 24 hours for no apparent reason. (NOT bird flu, I hasten to add.) So my little backyard flock has cost us a fair bit this year, but hopefully we'll be back to normal next year & they'll all earn their keep.

my cat will NOT eat supermarket brand pouches or even Whiskers or kidecat. but he loves Aldi pouches! I was buying the premium pouches which they don't stock right now, so got a box of the 'ordinary' ones - and he loves those too!

Ours will only eat Felix, but it has to be the 'As Good As It Looks' variety, and only the Doubly Delicious ones. But he will also eat Tesco's own brand. Who can work cats out? :rotfl::rotfl:He doesn't like beef either.

How funny.:D My cats are the same, I always have to buy As good as it looks for them.
  • When our cats are not impressed with their food offerings they pull, what we call their 'sucking lemons' face.... We know we,re in trouble then ;)
