Good point, I'm sure it does happen. It's not something we do where I work though. We can only buy through our nominated suppliers or anything that isn't through them has to be done using the company credit card.0 -
Wow... disgruntled retailer? I completely disagree with you on this.
You don't "completely disagree" with me at all! A bit lower down you go on to say "The point you've made about not checking the details is correct" - completely disagreeYou're assuming that this was a B2B transaction but you're wrong.
I said it seems like one! If you can prove that such an assumption is wrong then great! The real point to make is that you took steps to ensure that it SEEMED LIKE a B2B transaction.I recently upgraded my computer at home to Windows 10 which inadvertently meant that my bluetooth stopped working as the driver wasn't compatible. Unfortunately both my current mouse and keyboard can only connect via bluetooth so I thought I'd treat myself to a new wireless mouse/keyboard set and forked out quite a bit of my own hard earned cash to upgrade to this back-lit keyboard set at over £100 because I tend to use my computer in my home office after work hours when its dark.
It is ambitious trying to convince a third party that the keyboard bought for use in your business ("home") office after hours is never going to be used in a business capacity. Especially when you consider that technology is readily used in a hotel (unless you're Basil Fawlty?!)
What you say that you use it for and what you ACTUALLY use it for are hard to corroborate without physically watching you every minute of every day.
It is all about perceptions! The fact that I've been living in a hotel or that I have used my work email address to communicate with the reseller has no bearing on whether or not this is a business transaction. How many people who live out get deliveries made to their place of work so as not to miss them? I'd say this is quite a common scenario.
It DOES have bearing. It has bearing on their perception of what your motivations are for purchasing. So you own a company email and your keyboard is going to a company address. How can you honestly expect someone to assume that you are just a regular customer?! You LOOK like a B2B person, and that isn't even counting the VAT invoice thing! The point you've made about not checking the details is correct however I did read the entire page that was on display.
So you saw the title which had "US/INT" in it?My mistake was not clicking on the DETAILED SPEC tab which I'm guessing most wouldn't.
And not reading the title. And using your business email/having it delivered to the hotel. And the VAT invoice thing.I would argue that if a reseller is selling something that is not the standard and since most consumers in the UK would want to buy a UK keyboard, they would want to make it as transparent as possible to avoid these mistakes from happening, such as not hiding the detail in another tab that isn't initially displayed by default on the main page. The fact that this has obviously happened before since they are already selling other keyboards opened that have been returned for the same reason should have flagged the problem to someone in their office to change their listings. Otherwise, they shouldn't be surprised to be contacted by some disgruntled customers.
You can argue all you like, but the title says "US/INT"! I mean what did you think that meant?! Probably ignored it and saw only what you wanted to see!
Also, bear in mind that YOU NEEDED to check the detailed specs because a bluetooth model was no longer compatible for you (as per your post above)!!!!! Whilst the main listing page does mention a USB connection, I would have combed through all of the specs just to make sure that it wasn't bluetooth-based. Each to their own I guess, at least it didn't turn out to be COMPLETELY useless
Oh, and I'm not sure how this would work but could you possibly be mixing up B2B and personal transactions in such a way as to cheat HMRC out of money? Just speculating really, as I don't know how that all works! If that were the case then the last thing I'd want is to be going to court and potentially having HMRC sniffing around when I dispute what LOOKS like a B2B transaction but is actually a personal one! Best to make it look as normal as possible at the start; "undrop79@gmail.com" is probably still availableNot to accuse you of anything, of course, but just really entertaining a possibility!

I once saw some great advice that you might benefit from and it goes something like this:
"If you have criticism then please identify the main points and agree/disagree with them appropriately. It is good to disagree with people, but if you find yourself unable to agree with ANYTHING that the other person says then you probably need to step back a moment"
Have a great day0 -

I stepped back and saw a US/INT keyboard.
But genuinely, I wish you good luck with getting a favorable resolution.0 -

I think I've been lucky with the section 75 of the consumer credit act as my credit card company have already started the process to dispute the charge as it was just over £100. In all honesty I probably did glance over the US/INT bit on the subtitle of the listing but because it didn't have the words "layout" or "version" next to it, it didn't even click that this had anything to do with the layout of the keys. Had I seen it the way it was described on the detailed spec tab I'd like to think it would have flagged this to me a bit better but the truth is that this purchase was made for me personally and not for the company I work for, I've nothing to hide here. I don't normally check through the specs in such detail as you mentioned in your last post because I usually do that job on the manufacturer (logitech) website before Googling the model number that meets my requirements and buying from whichever reseller offers the best price. Regardless, lesson learnt and I will definitely try to be a bit more cautious in future before hitting that PAY button...0 -

Thanks for that. I had seen that one but as you've pointed out it wasn't the extra £10 that put me off, more so that it wouldn't be dispatched for a few weeks and I'm not that patient.
In the end I have gone and purchased the keyboard on it's own @ £59.99 from Maplin:

I could have then simply bought the Logitech Performance MX Wireless Mouse which is what the set comes with @ £48.50:

...but in the end I decided to upgrade this to the newer Logitech MX Master from Amazon instead @ £69.75

A lot of money, I know but one of my few vices is to upgrade my PC I tend to sell my old parts on ebay to make up the difference... DON't JUDGE ME0 -

I try my best to follow my own advice! But in honesty your post here is fair. I hope you have luck with your section 75 and getting your money back. DON'T FORGET that the retailer shouldn't necessarily be penalised in the way of losing out on their item and the money, so try and get it returned too. Also, expect the possibility of the retailer disputing the section 75, which may put a spanner in the works.0 -

So you do agree you can use and you have the facility to use a personal CC to buy equipment for your employer and claim it then?0
