Enterprise car hire - waiting for excess refund

Hi
Any advice from similar experiences?
I hired a car from Enterprise via Enjoy Car Hire (ha!). I had the car between 26 July and 10 August 2015, rented from Beziers, France. Unfortunately, some idiot jumped on the bonnet while it was parked and unoccupied, leaving three big dents in the bodywork.
No, I didn't have any kind of excess cover (kicking myself now for not taking out the standalone policy), and the excess was 850 euros which was taken from me on the 10th August when I returned the hire car. A very nice guy at the desk said he really hoped it would be a suction job and not cost too much but that I'd hear within 2 weeks how much of the excess (if any) I'd get back. It's been over 3 weeks and I haven't heard a peep, despite emailing the address I'd been given, and phoning customer services for an update today which resulted in speaking to someone in France with limited English and not much information.
Just wondering whether anyone else has had this experience and how long it took to hear back? I'm not holding out much hope of getting anything back (surely they will just replace the bonnet if someone else is picking up the tab?) but I'd like to know one way or the other!
Thanks!

Really you are the mercy of Enterprise. If they have re-hired the car, you could be looking at quite.some delay. All you can do is keep following up, but, they may not he in a rush if they are busy & can still rent the car.
From my time in car rental, if someone has jumped on the.bonnet they will likely replace the panel. Enterprise use to (and I guess, still do) have the policy of owning their vehicles for six months of 6k miles - to maximise resale. Most of those excellent 'nearly new' car.deals you see are ex-rentals.
If they are taking their time and have not started the work (they need to confirm this), you can request a second opinion on costs... this would be.employing someone (usually from an approved bodyshop) to.go and check the costs. It would likely just end up costing you more though.
If you had a stand alone.hire car excess insurance you would not be in a worse position. If you have such a policy you normally pay the excess and then attempt to reclaim the cost of the work once you have been invoiced.... so ethereal, you would still be.out of pocket at the moment!0
