upgrade to fibre?

Options
Hi All

We have just got a streaming stick , and are using it a fair bit , we are on sky unlimited broadband

When we used the streaming stick upstairs (the router is downstairs) a program we were watching wasnt the best quality visually

Is it worth the extra expense to upgrade to fibre broadband , to eliminate this issue?

Thanks

The streaming stick will connect with Wi-Fi so if the signal is not so good upstairs then however fast the connection to the router is won't matter as what you get will be dictated by the lower Wi-Fi connection speeds.

Does the stick work fine with a very strong Wi-Fi signal? If so the fibre won't help.

    Many possibility .
Dont know what a streaming stick is but you can measure WiFi signal received on something like Chromecast .
Also the location of your router can be turned/ moved to get a better signal . Also what channel you are picking up WiFi on its probably the same as your neighbours and signal is choked .

Wi-fi issues are usually down to interference with neighbour's wi-fi signals, the construction of your property, and how far apart the devices are.

To improve wi-fi signals in specific locations wi-fi repeaters or homeplugs with a wi-fi transmitter can be used.
