When I turn on it says "Google did not close down properly..." & gives me eight tiles for pages I use most often. I was going to fix the "problem" then I realised I prefer this to a proper home page, it gets me to where I want to be quicker.

They also ruined the android app, it was simple and just worked. a 4x2 panel with the main news item headings, open it and it was full screen with just the main news, you could alter that to your own liking, just sport or a choice of UK or international news etc.
    I concur

I actually uninstalled the new app and installed an older version and will never update it again.
Oooo, that's interesting, how do you do that......

    What about Google news? https://news.google.co.uk/

    Or NewsNow? http://www.newsnow.co.uk/

I still use the BBC news website but I really don't like it much any more. It feels as if they have far less news content on it now, as well as making it look too flashy.

Have you actually tried the BBC 'News' page which I linked to? The page you were describing is the BBC 'Home' page....

When they messed up the BBC News website, I changed my homepage to bbc.co.uk which sufficed in the short term.

    :)

That's probably because the BBC are practically in bed with Apple.

Don't start me off with this, I just spent 3 weeks on hols in France , I go to news.bbc.co.uk, using my data allowance on my phone so what happens , I get directed to bbc.com then have to fanny about going backwards and forwards to find UK "news". The answer my friend is there is no news just click bait/fake news :mad:
