I believe he didn't like us. Maybe we were a waste of time for him as he didn't receive the price he wanted. I checked the agency's site, it seems they update the houses they sell quite often. After 3 months it is still available there.
It's worth remembering that the EA works on commission. Unless you kicked his puppy, spat on his shoes and insulted his mother all in the same breath, it's highly unlikely that he would dislike you enough to forgo a potential paycheck over it, especially for a house he is having trouble shifting.
I agree with everyone here, call up and find out if it's still for sale, if so and you decide you want to offer on it, go down in person (if possible), look professional, bring all your paperwork and offer what it's worth to you.

I certainly wouldn't offer 10k more immediately.
If you feel that offering more is the right thing to do, maybe offer a couple of K more than your last offer.0 -

You don't need more details off the estate agent if they are telling you it has been sold for close to asking price. Either it has been sold for close to asking price, in which case you can tell the EA you are prepared to offer asking price or over if you want to gazump which he will be be legally obliged to pass to the vendor, or the EA is lying. If you genuinely believe the EA is lying about it having been sold, contact the vendor directly and ask.0 -
I called him up, he told me the sale appears to be slow, and he will keep me updated. Also he added that the seller would not accept less than 15k on top of our last offer.
Does he try to achieve the extra 10k he asked for previously, do you think?0 -
He is probably just warning you that, although there is a small chance the current deal may fall through, they would want significantly more than you offered. So in other words, if this was your budget, keep looking elsewhere as you can't afford this one ... But if you could stretch to more there's a small chance you could be lucky.
People always assume EAs are constantly lying, but honestly sometimes they aren't and they are just telling you what's what.0 -

You are still making the mistake of thinking you're negotiating with the estate agent. Get out of that frame of mind.
By far the most likely explanation is that he's telling you exactly what is going on. What makes you think he isn't?0 -
Because the house is still on the market and two months ago he asked for 10k more. Now he wants 15k over our offer. Why would he not settle just for 10k? If someone had he offered that value before, he would have sold it. But I am just assuming.0

It has been sold for that value - he has told you so. Sometimes vendors continue to market houses until exchange in case someone comes along and offers more. There's nothing odd or unusual about this at all. You are hung up on this 10K for some reason; that was just the state of things at that time before other people came along and the situation changed.
And again, he doesn't want anything. The vendor wants it. He is just relaying what the vendor is saying. You do realise the Estate Agent cannot make a deal to sell the house, don't you?0
