Airport parking- car hire??

Hi Has anyone tried to hire a car for the day and use it to take you to the airport instead of using car parking? I'm just trying to reduce the cost, currently £72 to park at Stansted for 13 days, which just seems a mad about of money. sweetp

hi just jumped in on this thread as we need parking at stanstead on the 2oct for 8 days, however the prices are ridculous, is there any way of getting there from london?? ie train or coach?? thanks
