Had rain down south several times today that came down hard and fast like stair rods!

Then by tea time, the sky had cleared, the sun came out, and I had to throw my patio door and my kitchen window wide open while I cooked the tea......mind you, a lot of that is to do with me age too :(...........hormones! eh? who'd have 'em?!

    Hi all!

Just a quick to thanks whoever(s) suggested fleeces at windows with one of those telescopic shower rails. I remembered I had a rail in my cupboard and bought 3 dark brown fleeces in Primark (turns out I only needed two for the living-room window - still £2 each). Have just put them up so they are in the middle: nets at the window, the fleeces then the drapes. With my new lamp shades, desk/reading lamp and, soon to arrive table lamp, my living room is winter ready.

Just need to hang some fleeces in the bedrooms and get some 'white light' bulbs and I can tick them off my winter prep list. Bring it on!! :j

2 pairs of wool socks, one pair for moi, the other pair are for my grand daughter. I am struggling with a pair for my grand son on 4 needles.......

I'm really impressed! I've been knitting for years but haven't attempted socks yet.

I'm in the Borders and this year the midges are unreal. I won't go outside after about 3pm. Everybody is covered in bites:(

Get yourself some of this, it`s great for keeping the midgies away.

Has to be the green one tho` For some reason the pink one doesn`t work.
i`m a magnet for biting beasties and I used to use it when my lot were at archery competitions, usually lots of trees around, sprayed it on and the beasties didn`t bother me. Sprayed some on my hands and rubbed over the dogs as well and they were safe too.

Do you get midges down south ? We can't go outside at all because the wee sods are all over the place.

I sat out in the garden yesterday for an hour knitting, all the midges in the world must have called their friends to feast on fresh flesh!! I am covered in little itchy bite, damn things.....thanks for the tip, I have been looking for that Avon stuff for years, sent for 3 bottles, I'll teach the little b's to bite me!!!

Nothing to add to your comment but just had to say that I read your signature and it's a truly wonderful testament to marriage and motherhood.
