Well, this morning it was cold & wet, really like October, then by the time we were at the food festival it was all bare arms, very sunny, probably 20 degrees compared with 10 or 12 this morning!
Def NO heating until end of October at the earliest, need to get the boiler serviced, never been done in the 10 years we've had it.
Off to do a bit of pruning now it's sunny in the front.

2 pairs of wool socks, one pair for moi, the other pair are for my grand daughter. I am struggling with a pair for my grand son on 4 needles.......
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
  • Earlier this year, I was a bit miffed when British Gas wouldn't refund the £100 or so 'credit' that I had on my gas bill. One gets that sort of ' Hey...it's my money and I want it.....NOW !' type feeling. But the guy from British Gas explained very nicely that it would go a long way to paying my winter gas bill.

And you know...with winter now approaching again, he was right.

Do you get midges down south ? We can't go outside at all because the wee sods are all over the place.

We used to get them next to rivers when I lived in the Scottish Borders but down here in the Midlands they are blissfully absent. When I lived in Perthshire they were all over the place . Nasty wee creatures :rotfl:

Fab socks! What pattern did you use?

I just finished a the first of a pair of thick winter socks, unfortunately I got my needles mixed up and used 4mm instead of 3.75 and they're a bit big - but they fit lovely over a thinner pair of socks. I think I'll use them inside walking socks for winter :)

Ugghhhh I hate knitting the second sock!!

I used a pattern from the internet, from Linda's Craftique, if you put 2 needle socks into your search engine you should get several patterns up. Glad you like tham.

I'm in the Borders and this year the midges are unreal. I won't go outside after about 3pm. Everybody is covered in bites:(

are you near the hills or water marathda? i'm about 6 miles from the sea so i think the sea air keeps them away here but the only place in scotland i've had problems with midgies is in the north, the hillier it is the worse they get

word of warning, NEVER go to tulloch unless you wear a beekeepers outfit, they swarm so heavily there that it's like a black cloud and you inhale and swallow tons of them it's absolutely apalling! *shudders at the memory*
