It's even been quite nippy here in Kent for the past week. Grey skies, cold winds, rain.....:(:(
We were going up to our caravan in Norfolk but staying home and tending our veg and herbs and will see what September brings.Felines are my favourite

In case anyone hasn't got theirs yet, on the Boots website in the offers section, there is a bit called "When it's gone, it's gone" and they have furry covered water bottles reduced to £6 each, and fleecy ones for a fiver. You can get them delivered free to your local Boots too, and you'll get your Advanteg points as well. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I have a friend who works for a firm supplying boilers, heating etc to various councils and they have had a bunch of calls the last few days from people regarding problems with their heating as they've had to turn it on as it's so cold
Are these people mad or do they get their heating paid for them? We still have our windows open day and night no way is it cold enough for heating, barely need a jumper! I'm not particularly die hard about the cold, I know some on here are brilliant for holding off with the heating until it's minus degrees, that's not for me, but heating on now? How could you justify that?
I live in the North West in the 'middle of nowhere' and I put my heating on today... my hubby got home in the middle of the day to find me shivering, so made me put it on to get warm. It's like Winter here, it's rained every day for weeks (yet we still have a hosepipe ban!!), and the house feels cold and damp. I keep hearing that 'down south' you've had a fabulous summer, well I can say we haven't had a 'summer' day since about June, we're all really fed up of itThe house feels nice and warm and dry now and the heating is off.

You are a :staradmin. I really need a new hot water bottle - every time I went to bed last winter I was worried I'd wake up in a pool of water because mine had split - so I've just ordered a new one, delivered to my nearest store so I don't have to pay delivery fees.
kayjay - if it makes you feel any better, it's pouring and decidedly chilly in Portsmouth at the moment - not a nice night at all!
I've noticed that my mealplans are already starting to include autumn-type meals - I'm desperately hoping it's just a phase, and the weather will perk up soon, as otherwise I'm going to be left with hundreds of green tomatoes.Back after a very long break!0 -
I hope the weather picks up by the end of next week as my mum's coming to stay and we're hoping to take her out. There's a brilliant car boot that we go to when the weather is good. Mum hasn't been to one for years, so she's dying to go and we're also hoping to take her to the beach cos she loves beachcombing and then there's blackberrying too.
Mind you, as she lives in London and has been really feeling the heat, I think she'll appreciate the cooler (colder) weather here.0 -

I usually only have a few tabs for taking in the office in the daytimes, just in case (I often fill a bottle with lemon juice to have such drinks by day, and have a jar of honey in my desk).
But I am wondering, as the lemon "season" is probably around now (certainly, they seem a few pence cheaper than depths of winter), is it worth making the juice now and freezing it in 1 drink portions? Like maybe getting a box of lemons from the fruit market and having a decent session??!
Could you use the squeezy stuff? So long as it doesn't have any sugar in it? That's very cheap!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
It was mild outside today but I feel really chilly now and am well-tucked under a fleece blanket. Mind you sometimes I think it's colder inside this house than outside!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I could have quite happily put the heating on today but in true MSE style I got all the fleecey jumpers out and made the kids put them on instead. Its the first time in a long time i've put jeans on - i've been living in 3/4 length trousers. I also bought some fleecy pjs in Primarket the other day and the kids have got them on now. They both look to have kicked their duvets off so they are obviously quite snuggly.
I've also ordered the grit to fill the grit bin ready for the winter!0 -
Its definately cool in Manchester, Ive got a big wooly jumper on and will be putting my thick socks on tomorrow night as its cold in my office here, but I think the double glazing is going to make a difference as the curtains no longer blow in the breeze:)Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
