we always have uht milk (skimmed) for everyday milk works out cheaper i always get ours from either tescos or morrisons always with long dates, we only have fresh milk for cereal probs 4-6 pints a week. i havent even thought that much about preparing for winter yet and probably wont until my girls go back to school. i always keep a stocked store cupboard just in case the same all year round which came in very handy in all the snow we had earlier on in the year. at the moment im enjoying the summer too much but im sure my winter/xmas head will kick in soon:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

i can highly recommend thermal underwear. ( i don't wear it , but hubby does) although were only in our 20's this isn't something i ever thought i'd be recommending. but last winter hubby was working out on street lighting and part of there uniform supply is thermal underwear. it not really underwear as you wear it over your underwear. but hubby was so gratefull for it. at some point with the wind chill he was working in had temps well below minus for a whole day. and being an electrican the work of testing street lights doesn't involve much work mainly walking so it easy to get a chill.0

anyone got any ideas on how to turn normal winter coat into something suitable for me with my bump (baby!). i dont really want to buy another for the winter walk to school and back but i dont think it will do up by sept/oct time and its really windy where we are.
thanks
My mum scoured a charity shop for a similar coloured coat to mine (black cord) My coat is a duffel coat so easier to adapt than a zipped coat.
What she did was cut out a large triangular piece of cord but with no point, so starting at 4-6 inches (to allow for boob growth) and going out to about 18-20 inches in width (to allow for bump)
How long you need the insert to be depends on the duffel or button closest to your chest and the length of the jacket.
Then make button holes to fit over the buttons on one side and add another row of buttons to go in the holes on the other side.
It does look very triangular and not as neatly cut as maternity jackets you can get now but for my budget it was ok.
But keep an eye out in your charity shops or ebay for one in the mean time.0 -
I try to make sure I have enough for a week, but I'm a townie, so that's as long as I can go without forcing my way to the shop.
Just for fun though.....

ThanksMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Hmmm, never had tab top curtains but you could use a blind hemming stitch and fasten the top of the tape to the inside of the curtains - just below the tabs and then fasten some more to the fleece. That way you would have the tape on the inside of the curtains to fasten the fleece onto.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
