Preparing for Winter

Hi everyone.
I use candles a lot in winter not because they give the room a cosy glow, but they also contribute a lot to keeping a room warm.
However, I have noticed an increase in the cost of same- at Wilko they used to be 65p for a pack of 6 household candles, they are now 98p, as I say I use a lot as well as Tea light candles.
I have now to cut down on the how many I use, which is a shame as they really do heat a room. In the evenings I reduce the heating thermostat when the candles are lit and I am very cosy and warm. You live..You learn.:)0 -
renegade I too have noticed an increase in their price, although I have become very OS and am melting the remaining bits down to make bigger ones, it then feels like I got their maximum value! If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

This is an excellent idea.I have just freed up a large plastic box on wheels in my spare room, and I am going to stash as many xmassy bits bought in the Jan sales as possible in there for next year.No harm in forward planning is there:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I bought my last lot of tea lights in Homebase and they were £1.50 for 50p. Works out at 3p each.
In my hall I have a lamp with an energy saving bulb that I leave on all of the time when itis dark and I have a feeling that this will not cost much more than a tealight. They only seem to last about 3 hours.0 -
