Preparing for Winter

Hi,
I have learned some great tips from this thread. Thanks to you all...
I am thinking of covering the windows with bubblewrap this winter. Should I attach it to the glass or to the frame thus leaving an air gap between the glass and the bubble wrap. Also will the masking tape so or should I invest in something specific
Thanks very much

After my very hot night under 13.5 tog and 4.5 tog duvets together in one quilt cover, I decided that if I had them in separate duvet covers then I could just throw one off easily if the temp rises again. I know it seems obvious but sometimes these light bulb moments take a while to circuit my brain. Anyway - success! kingsize duvet cover, inc 2 pillowcases, £6 in Asda. It's a plain beige with a little brown squiggle though won't be seen between top sheet and outer duvet. I don't know how they make a profit at that price but my problem solved.:j0

I would attach it to the frame Moneyqueen so that you don't get condensation. Dad used to use masking tape but we used double sided tape that came with the 'cling film' insulation we bought from Wilco.
Some use stick on velcro which I recall someone saying that got from Morrisons.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I'm going to bubble wrap a couple of my windows this year as well... but to make it a bit more presentable on the window other people can see I'm going to sew a bit of scrap net curtain to it first... see what that looks like.
I was also thinking about making a scented draught excluder... anyone done anything similar?TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

oliveoyl,
The scented draught excluder is a great idea.

I haven't made a scented draught excluder but I regularly put a couple of drops of my favourite essential oil on the material itself. I use orange/pine/cinnamon in the winter (not all at the same time:D) and lavender/geranium/clary sage in the warmer months.0 -

I was wondering about oils but thought it would stain... I'd been thinking along the lines of rosemary and lavender clippings and flowers.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

I suppose it depends on the material used and the colour. No problem with mine so far.
The only thing I would have against real leaves etc is the scent fades so quickly.:o0 -
Have had problems with squirrels in the loft in the past but thought they had gone forever. However, have heard worrying sounds the last few days and getting panicky as they can do a lot of damage but wouldnt do anything to hurt them. Does anyone have any ideas for holistic removal? Would really appreciate advice. Many thanks0

Can you find out where they are getting in and block it?
I don't know if those ultrasonic devices work on squirrels but might be worth a try as it wouldn't harm them.
It's a shame to hurt them but they can cause terrible damage.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20
