I may try the arrowhead one looks quite easy but not too plain.
I'd forgotten about this site, thanks for the link.
The Blanket poncho looks right up my street and I love the 2nd Hooded poncho (just above the 'iceland' one at the bottom).
I made a really thick heavy one last year out of wool that was like knitting with really soft rope. It was fantastic and brought the cabling up beautifully so I reckon I'll have a go at one of these.
Never occurred to me to knit a lighter one for indoor use. Duh!
oHHH.. just found the legwarmer section. Now we're talking.:j

Sometimes the most obvious solutions are staring you in the face. Every now and then on this site I read something that makes me think 'why didn't I think of that'. However, that's what life's all about: the accumulation of information, practice and life skills.0

Too true, missycrissy. And sometimes I am finding that I forget really good tips that I had learnt from the past or on here and need to keep reading through to remind myself of them.
I must get round to continuing with the manual that I set up for exactly this purpose. The recipe ones doing great - obviously my priorities lie in the piggier side of my nature.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

more great ideas on here :T I'm another who reads a great tip and then forgets it, that's why I keep re-reading the Tightwad Gazette; I've started to scribble notes in the margins - good job its mine and not borrowed from the library... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I got a wind up radio in the Argos clearance yesterday - I saw a link to their clearance website on one of the threads here, apologies but I can't find it now to thank whoever posted it.
Also Poundland are doing Beechams Hot Lemons £1 for a pack of 5. I know it's only paracetamol with a hot lemon drink but it's the only thing that makes DH feel better when he has a cold, sorry, fluIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

I went shopping in the charity shops with the intention of buying a curtain suitable for my front door.
I found a lovely pair of aubergine curtains, 90" by 90",fully lined and originally from Next for the hefty amount of £4.95.
What a bargain!
I've decided to put them in my living room and use one of the original curtains for the front door.

Thanks Shaz, I love silver too.
What happened to the cafe then? (sorry I am very nosey lol)
I have also pulled out my electric 'wood burning stove' heater thingy that was tucked away in the out house.
I am determined not to put the central heating on at all if I can help it but it depends on the children really cos my youngest is prone to colds
I really want to get my gas and electric accounts to zero before xmas.
I am absolutely fed up of having to pay £69 gas and £79 electric per month.
I also like the idea of knitting a wrap/blanket/poncho but I don't really have the time so I might try to customise a fleece blanket instead, but then again I probably won't get round to it.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000
