i'd better figure something out til the elderberries are ready :p

I think I have a tree with elderberries on it at the bottom of my garden- best do a check first so I don't poison myself- they are sprays of tiny little round black berries.

What do you do with them though?

LOL nippy, not heard that one for years. My granny's "jeely piece" was legendary !

You'll be familiar with the 'jeely piece song' then!! I think it's great too!

    Hello!

Another thing to tick of the list today, bought some chenille lined curtains for the spare room ready to put up when I put the seconday glazing back in place. Had to stop myself buying some of the throws and quilts they had for about £15 under half price in A*gos

I removed the secondary glazing by accident when I moved in and then never thought about putting it back in place until I read this thread.

    Spare room plan
Remove tatty old dusty dirty curtain
    Clean window
    Clean secondary glazing pane
    Replace glazing
    Put up new curtains
Draw curtains at night when it gets colder instead of none :D

Might go back to Mr T's for one of the nice patterned fleeces they had in there for £3
final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333

ooh those look lovely, wish i could afford one!

i am however going to pick up a 13.5 tog double duvet for free tonight from a freecycler, i suppose that will have to do for now ;)

well i got an email this afternoon from the woman giving away the duvet. it appears she got confused, the 13.5 tog duvet she had was only a single but she'd planned to give that away too and hadn't listed it so she gave me that AND a double duvet (probably 5 or 6 togs from the feel of it) so i really can't complain!

must have looked funny walking through my streets with two big bundled up duvets under each arm at the end of august but i'll happily chuckle away at it in october when we're toasty warm on the sofa watching telly :p

Do the rosehips come after the rose blooms have died? Am wondering if they are the centre of the flower as it were, in which case I shouldnt be dead-heading them? I have a huge eglintine rose outside my window (remember the song from bednobs and broomsticks?) and would love to harvest rosehips from it.
No sign of brambles here yet - still green and bullet-like

yes the hips are the fruits that form after the blossom has died

Going to start properly on my winter preperations today. We have decided to fully sort and decorate the childrens bedrooms ready for winter - the small room is nearly done - decorator coming on Wednesday to finish the papering.

I am going to go and find my notebook and update here later with a list !! I love my lists :)

    T xx
