4. Thermal linings for boys room
- found some reasonable priced ones in Dunelm Mills but just need the money and to get there
5. Look at thicker curtains/thermal lining for front room.
- looked - and looked at the price for floor length curtains. That one will have to wait
Maybe replacing any (non-dimmer switched) bulbs with energy saving in the meantime.
Done the 4 x 50W GU10 in the bathroom for energy saving ones and replaced the 4 x50W GU10 light in the hall for a normal 18w bulb.
Must try harder.
Still got more to do.
I have the same problem. Our main room has a huge patio door with floor length curtains. They aren't lined so I thought I'd look into a new pair but  . I have also looked into linings but you can't get ready made ones so I will have to sew them myself. Double :)Do more of what makes you happy:)0 -

HI sammy-kaye......mothercare do a mattress protector for a cot bed - I was looking a couple of weeks ago. Trouble is, I can't remember how much they were so maybe too expensive for you. They also do a normal single bed sized flat one that you could use - just tuck in the extra under the mattress.

hi everyone i agree with you all on previous posts its a known fact the more active you are the warmer you are and that we loose most of our body heat through our head so if you have someone who is imobile try a hat but remember health comes first you cant put a price on that better to spend a bit more on heating to ensure your family are healthy especially with very young very old or anyone who is imobile. on saying that im ill at the mo but still refusing to put heating on
but if my DS was ill heating would of been on
im way too soft :rotfl: especially considering he is now 15 lol
on the subject of insulating desks you can get padded table protectors dont know what price they are mind you cut them to the size and shape you want my SIL has one and her table is always warm to touch when you rest your arm.:coffee:i find a cup of tea can solve most problems:coffee:
 but alcohol solves them all

Does anybody wear ear-muffs anymore... or will I be the laughing stock of the neighbourhood if I get some?
When out today and the wind gave me ear-ache.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

ooooo I always get that!
The girls at DD's school wear them (aged 7-11) so should be ok
Anyway, who cares, we could start a new trend :j:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0 -

I never thought of popping a hat on himthanks thats a great idea!! We've had to cut all his hair off as we can't wash it at the moment poor thing so that could be causing the chilly feelings!
His room is on the top floor and it is a huge room with a tiny radiator so its unbearably hot in summer but freezing in the winter...even with the heating on full blast it doesn't do much good!
Me,I need no excuse to fiddle with the thermostat as I'm always cold lol
if he needs the heating on I'd never deny him it no matter what it costs0 -
I've just dug out all my gloves. I have some fleecy (again
) ones, some lined leather ones, and a few pairs of plain cheap woolly ones. I have just cut the tip of the fingers off a pair of the cheap ones so I can wear them when I work at the computer. Trying them out this very moment, it works a treat.
Warm feet and warm hands help me stay toasty all over even with little or no heating.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Have you thought of those broad knitted headbands like lots of skiers wear?
like these:-

they are everywhere out here... and you can get all different thicknessses etc.. I bet they could be made real easily
Perhaps they would be a bit less likely to raise a laugh than big ol earmuffs -but if it was earache of ear muffs -grab the ear muffs-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I don't think I've seen them before... I had thought about a hat with ear flaps... but in wind I'd have to tie it under my chin and that's not cool :cool:TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
