BT Sport app via HDMI

Hi, I've got access to the BT Sport app which i'll be using on my Hudl 2. I was thinking about connecting it to my TV with an hdmi cable. Just wondered if anyone else does this? Is the picture on the TV good or does it distort?

That worked really well. I changed the resolution and the picture was much smoother thanks. If i connect my Nexus 5 to my tv with a slimport and hdmi will I be able to go into the settings and change the resolution in the same way? Or can you only do that with the Hudl 2?
