Does anyone regret upgrading to Windows 10?

I recently bought an extra laptop as a potential sucessor to my current one and upgraded the new one from Windows 8.1(which I hate) to Windows 10.

Initially I was well impressed with Win10, but switching between new and old laptops (Windows 7 vs Windows 10) I have to say I will miss Windows 7 when I decide to ditch this laptop. It feels alot better and a much better interface.

Has the initial Windows 10 buzz eased off for you too?

No, I find it preferable to 7 and 8.1 in every respect, except for the loss of 'placeholders' in OneDrive that was part of 8.1

My laptop finally upgraded to windows 10 a week ago (it had been waiting for a driver). Windows 7 was great, but so is windows 10.

    No regrets.

No regrets here either. Toshiba Satellite (although not supposed to be compatible) works brilliant. Once you get rid of the data sharing, no problems.
Have another laptop which I shall keep as W7.

I can't imagine anyone regretting going from W8 to W10. But I know several users of W7 who are for the time happy to stay with that.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I think macman has pretty much hit the nail on the head.

In fact I updated all of my machines to W10 and find it superior to W8 but still prefer the W7 start menu to the W10 one. I have so far resisted the temptation to use the third party start menu which I was using on the W8 machine. W10 did seem to perform better than the W7 starter I was running a couple of of netbook class machines on although I haven't used them regularly.

The main annoyance for me is lack of choice about installing updates which always seem to come when I want a fast startup. With earlier Windows I delayed installs until they were convenient to me. My desktop is on 24x7 and that gets restarted by default at times considered convenient. It's true Imay not be using the thing but I do have programs running 24x7 and would prefer the option to manually apply updates and restart when I know it won't interfere with anything they are doing.

Regardless of any complaints the only real longterm alternative to keeping up to date on windows releases is to move to Mac or Linux. Persisting with a back release just delays the inevitable.

I have upgraded three machines to Windows 10, generally it's good.

The loss of Media Centre is annoying, but I have two Vista PCs that can soldier on.

I did have a freezing issue with a self-build machine, with an SSD boot drive, and an AMD A10 Kaveri set up, under Windows 8.1 . I'm hoping that's fixed by Windows 10. Otherwise, I have no need for Windows 10.

The insidious thing is Microsoft is trying to force me into keeping my data online. This is dangerous, as they are bound to be hacked, so I am not putting really important stuff in Calendar, OneNote etc. I log in using a local account, not the Microsoft account that they try to set up during the installation.

I've upgraded my Surface Pro 3 from 8.1 and my old-ish Samsung netbook from 7 - happy with 10 on both.

The other laptop which I use for work stuff will stay on 7 mainly because I'm going to replace it soon and I can't be bothered to upgrade it :rotfl: Plus since it's getting on a bit and I need it to earn money, I don't really want to spend time messing with it should something not work properly
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

That includes me, I have W7 on three machines and am quite happy with it, support for W7 continues until 2022 by which time I would probably be changing them anyway so why put W10 on just because it is free at the moment and for the sake of it, as far as I am concerned better the devil you know. :D
