lee try thinking out of the box, or tray.

people are going to need to carry goods home somehow, the store has a ready supply of cardboard in all shapes and sizes to facilitate that task.

But what a logistical nightmare that will be. Where will they keep 100s/1000s of ready assembled cardboard boxes ready for the next day's trade?

I take it you have never worked in a supermarket or retail before.

Or how those of us manage in areas where bags already carry a fee.

It's not a problem, you just take your sturdy bags with you, or grab some boxes on the way out. Moving shopping around at home with 4 or 5 big hessian bags is much easier than 10 collapsing thin plastic bags, and easier on the hands too.

As indeed did Sainsburys, Tescos & no doubt a few others. I still see the occasional shopper using them but only very rarely. Suspect most people do as I do & use them for storage at home.

But they'll very likely make a comeback next month - I guess the availability of free bags made it less attractive to keep a couple in the car but that all changes soon.
