Just a thought, as the PCN doesn't identify whether our ticket expired, what is the grace period for over staying the time limit., the BPA will ask them , but not disclose the time to you (not in there mandate to release this info , (S Clark , 2015)
I'm not sure how long we paid for, but the PCN accounts us staying for 1.36hrs.

is that 1 hr and 36 mins or 1.36 hrs , the numbers are different

.36 of an hour is about 22 mins

so is it 1 hr and 36 mins or 1 hr and 22 mins , if they cannot read a clock and do calculations , whats the chance of them reading a number plate?

I'm just contacting the Countryside Trust as the Newbie thread suggests, as my 5yo daughter slipped on the limestone path in the car park, cutting her knee. This in itself must have added 15 mins to our stay.
Worth a mention, not that I entirely account them for the blame.

Grace periods are at least 1 minute less than the time you stayed. They are never advertised so really the customer is left to decide what that time is
  • and from the BPA:

I have now returned from leave and I am looking at this case for you.

    Kind regards

You refer to documents where xxxx have said that there is no Grace Period at this location – it would be helpful to have sight of these please.

I note that my colleague Peter Beasley has provided you with the following response ‘Under our code of practice xxxx are obligated to inform the BPA what period of time, the grace period is, in a specific car park or location. The BPA are not obligated to provide the exact time, but that a grace period is in operation.’ I support the position taken by Mr Beasley.

    Kind regards

  • Thanks Enfield Freddy,

That was going to be my next question. If there is a grace period, surely they should be required to display such.

An update on my circumstance: I wrote an email and letter to The Countryside Trust. They said its nothing to do with them, and that parking tickets help pay for the maintenance of the Trust properties. Whilst I agree, I thought I paid my dues when I bought a ticket.

IMO The Countryside Trust (and other landowners) should be grateful we brought our custom, unlike NPC who's business is parking.

The thread title is probably wrong, I think I did simply over stay by 36 mins.

What I'm baffled about however, is if it went to court and it was deemed that I should have paid for the loss of business (50p), if I've already sent a cheque to cover their loss, and they reject it, why should I loose in court?

This would be like smashing someone window and offering to pay £200 to fix it. However the owner rejects it and takes me to court, only to lose and have to pay £200 + court fees.

My point is, if I offer to pay the parking fee 50p-£1, plus any admin (lets say £5), then can they still win in court should it be taken that far?
