in Credit cards
Hi there
hope this is in the right section. i recently booked a ferry with stenaline, they cancelled it due to technical difficulties. i got a full refund on the ferry price but i didn't get back the £5 they charged me to use my credit card. surely this cant be right, basically they have provided me absolutely no service and still charged me a fee. ok i understand there's a fee but surly they should take the hit on the fee and not me. Any ideas?

Tip - Can you fit a Stena ferry into a credit card reader?
If not, a more appropriate forum might be the Travel or Transport forums.0 -
fair enough pogofish, however my question is more regardeing the legality of charging fees on credit cards when you havent provided a service. mybe i didnt explain that clearly on my 1st post.....Norn Iron Club No:468

can you do a charge back even if you've received a full refund on the product? so for example the price of the ferry was £124 for which i have received a refund, however they charged me £129 which included the £5 card fee.

Your choice to pay by credit card rather than an alternative method. They merely passed on the charge that's imposed on them nothing more.0 -

Discuss this with the bank and either claim the full amount or the missing £5. If the former return the amount already refunded back to the company.Thrugelmir wrote: »Your choice to pay by credit card rather than an alternative method. I think you are entitled to full refund. It really is Stena's problem if processing a CC costs them £5 which they will now be out of pocket on.
If the T+Cs allow them to do this, then I think it can be argued they are unenforceable.0 -

No charge if they refund it appropriately.
They're taking the proverbial.0
