Stena cancelled ferry but still charge a Fee.

Options
Hi there
hope this is in the right section. i recently booked a ferry with stenaline, they cancelled it due to technical difficulties. i got a full refund on the ferry price but i didn't get back the £5 they charged me to use my credit card. surely this cant be right, basically they have provided me absolutely no service and still charged me a fee. ok i understand there's a fee but surly they should take the hit on the fee and not me. Any ideas?

Tip - Can you fit a Stena ferry into a credit card reader?

If not, a more appropriate forum might be the Travel or Transport forums.

cheers grumbler :) can you do a charge back even if you've received a full refund on the product? so for example the price of the ferry was £124 for which i have received a refund, however they charged me £129 which included the £5 card fee.

Your choice to pay by credit card rather than an alternative method. They merely passed on the charge that's imposed on them nothing more.

    I don't see why not.
Discuss this with the bank and either claim the full amount or the missing £5. If the former return the amount already refunded back to the company.

And? They charged the agreed price that included all factors for the service that they failed to deliver. Hence, the full amount is due for a refund.

I think you are entitled to full refund. It really is Stena's problem if processing a CC costs them £5 which they will now be out of pocket on.

If the T+Cs allow them to do this, then I think it can be argued they are unenforceable.

No charge if they refund it appropriately.

    They're taking the proverbial.
