Where have all the buyers gone?

Hi, I just wondered if everyone else was finding viewings a bit slow? We put our house on the market in early May this year, had quite a few viewings and a good offer within 3 weeks, which we accepted. Unforunately the chain broke at the beginning of August and went back on the market, we've only had 2 viewings since going back on the market. Is it true that it's slow at this time of the year or are the Estate Agents saying this to make us feel better?

August is usually a slow month. Did they take new photos etc for right move, worth making extra effort to display it as a new property.

I didn't think of asking the EA to take new photos, probably too late now. Will rember for future reference, though.

On holiday. They'll be back in September.
  • Even those not on holiday in August often get into the mindset of "cant do owt etc etc - because no-one else is much and everything goes dead" and hence are possibly not house-hunting that actively at the moment because of that mindset.

I hate August (for its deadness) even more than I hate January (for its bleak weather).

What area are you in, I think some areas are still moving well.

that stamp duty is causing people in pricier areas of London to add rooms, extend, rather than to sell and move to a bigger palace as it is far cheaper than paying all the fees and moving up the ladder. It also adds directly to the value of the current pile. There seem to be builders around every corner.

It's the same down in Somerset. I'm hoping this bank holiday kicks some life into the market :)
